I have accidentally worn it a few times while showering and haven't noticed any changes with the finish, if anything, it's shiner after I shower with it. That said, don't make it a habit if you want to preserve its shine, as it's a peice worth taking care of. All in all, it's worth the money and I look forward to purchasing more chains from them, as they are fairly priced for the product quality."
